Come Thou Fount - Hunter's Homecoming

Kenzie's best friend Hunter Jansson returned from him mission last week and he asked if she would sing his favorite hymn for his Homecoming.

Kenz immediately called Kim Granger to accompany her.  She knew Kim would understand when she told her she wanted to re arrange the hymn, something I often call "Kenzifying a song".  Kim was patient as Kenzie worked out new chords and timing.  After a few rehearsals, Kenz felt good about it.

Hunter's cute cousin, Ashley Cloward, then asked if she could join Kenz.  Kenz is pretty picky when it comes to music (especially CHURCH music) but her love for Hunter and his family made the decision easy... Of course, she could sing with Kenz.

She then asked if Kim's daughter, Maddie, would be willing to play her violin.  Kim wrote music for Maddie and they got together 30 minutes before the Homecoming to try all the pieces together.

I don't record the actual performance if it is during our sacrament meeting because it is a sacred meeting but I did record their rehearsal.  It was beautiful.

Hunter's talk about his mission experiences was wonderful.  The musical number was perfect.  Kenzie and Hunter's other friend, Evan Zollinger, ended the meeting sharing his mission experiences as well.  It was a sweet day.

Reminders are Good

Kenz was asked to sing for her good friend Cole Parkinson's mission farewell.
She was thrilled.

She decided to do the same song she did for Seminary Graduation.

She rehearsed with our friend from our stake Mike Anderson on Tuesday and felt ready.
Saturday night, she started to realize how many of her friends would be there
and how important it was that she sing well.
She worked herself up a little.

Mike texted me that morning.

She sat nervously looking at her words while Cole spoke.

I finally showed her Mike's text.
She read it and gave a relieved smile.
Walked up to the stand and sang BEAUTIFULLY.

Sometimes she needs to remember that she has been given a gift.
It is a blessing from her Heavenly Father.
And when you are willing to share your gifts and talents,
you are blessed.

He answered her prayers (& mine) that morning.
Calming her heart and mind.
And helping her bring the spirit through music.

As a mom,
I am always SO GRATEFUL when she is given the opportunity to sing in church.

Argentina is Getting Her Best Friend

Hayden is Called to Serve...

Before he opened the call... Kenz struggled during the entire day.  She is excited for Hayden and so proud of him and his decision to serve but letting him leave for two years is going to be hard for her.
Not sure if she is trying to convince me that she is "ok" or herself...

All of Hayden's friends who have their calls or are waiting...

After lots of pictures with friends and family  -he finally found her and gave her a BIG hug!

She's ok... just very happy... tears of joy.
